Cookie Policy

What we store in your browser, why, and how to control it. No advertising, no cross-site tracking.

Última actualización: 10 de mayo de 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how RemotIQ Pty Ltd uses cookies and similar local-storage technologies on edgeservers.com.au. It complements (does not replace) our Privacy Policy. By using the site, you agree to our use of cookies as described here. You can change your preferences at any time through the cookie banner — there is a Cookies link in the footer that reopens the preferences modal — or through your browser settings.

What cookies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. Cookies let a site remember information about your visit so you do not have to re-enter it. Most modern websites also use related browser-level storage mechanisms — localStorage and sessionStorage — that work similarly for storing small amounts of data. For simplicity, this policy uses cookies to refer collectively to all of these.

Cookies we use

We use a deliberately small number of cookies. We do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site tracking by default, and any analytics tag only runs after you grant consent through the banner.

Strictly necessary

These are required for the site to work and are exempt from the consent requirement under Australian and EU law.

  • Theme preference (theme in localStorage) — remembers Light, Dark, or System mode.
  • Locale preference (edgeservers.locale-pref in localStorage and NEXT_LOCALE cookie) — records the language you chose so the language-suggestion banner does not reappear and the root URL routes you to the correct locale.
  • Cookie consent state (edgeservers.cookie-consent in localStorage) — remembers your choice on the banner so we do not ask again.

These persist on your device until you clear them.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand which pages are useful and where visitors get stuck. GA4 is configured in Consent Mode v2: until you click Accept all or enable Analytics under Customize, GA4 receives a denied-consent signal and does not write any analytics cookies (_ga, _gid) or transmit identifiable data. When you grant consent, GA4 begins to set its cookies and report aggregate, anonymised usage data.

Marketing

We do not currently use marketing cookies. The Marketing toggle in the preferences modal is reserved for future use. We will refresh the banner so you can re-confirm consent before any marketing cookie is set.

Third-party cookies and embedded resources

Some pages embed resources hosted by third parties — for example, fonts served from Google Fonts and JavaScript loaded from googletagmanager.com (only after consent). When your browser fetches those resources, the third party may set cookies under their own domain. We do not control those cookies; their use is governed by the third party's own privacy policy. We deliberately use providers that do not set marketing or tracking cookies as part of their default behaviour.

How long cookies last

The strictly-necessary localStorage entries persist until you clear them. The NEXT_LOCALE cookie has a 1-year max-age. If you grant consent for analytics, GA4's _ga cookie has a 2-year max-age.

How to control cookies

You can manage your cookie preferences in three ways:

  1. Through the cookie banner shown on first visit, or by clicking Cookies in the footer at any time to reopen the preferences modal.
  2. Through your browser settings, which let you block cookies on a per-site basis or clear them entirely; major browsers also offer a private or incognito mode that disables persistent cookies for that session.
  3. By clearing your browser localStorage for our site — in Chrome and Firefox, open developer tools, navigate to Application / Storage, find the entry for edgeservers.com.au, and clear; doing this resets your theme and language preferences and re-prompts you for cookie consent.

Do Not Track

Some browsers send a Do Not Track (DNT) signal to express a preference not to be tracked. We honour explicit consent choices from our banner over DNT signals — if you click Accept all with DNT enabled, your explicit choice prevails. Until you click anything, our default-deny Consent Mode means no analytics or marketing cookies are set regardless of DNT.

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when we add or remove a cookie or change how we use one. The effective date at the top of this page indicates when the current version was published. For material changes — for example, adding any new analytics or marketing cookies — we will refresh the cookie banner so you can re-confirm your consent.
